Portuguese Club

Everyone has heard of a Spanish Club, French Club or even an ASL Club when it comes to Foreign Languages, but have you heard of a Portuguese Club? I hadn't until just last week when Miguel sent me an email about an activity that was happening 12/08/11 at the Legacy Village Club House asking me if I wanted to go. Knowing quite a few of the members on the committee, I agreed to join Miguel for a night full of fun.

We picked up Mitch from his apartment around 6:45pm and headed over to Legacy Village Apartments. Once we arrived I found a few familiar faces and few new ones, for both of us actually.
Mingling we did with those we knew and those we did not. After 10-15 minutes of socializing, we sat down and started the with some presentations.

Miguel was the first to present about Christmas in Portugal. Thanks to Luis, Miguel was able to give a great presentation about traditional food and activities that happen during Christmas. Of course it wasn't in Portuguese, but it was fun to hear all of them banter back and forth with their Portuguese phrases and words. One day, we are going to spend Christmas in Portugal... I hope. ;)

We had another committee memeber then present to us about Christmas in Brazil. Talk about Americanized Christmas. ;) He served a mission in Brazil, so his Portuguese wasn't "real" Portuguese. ;) Actually, 2 out of the 6 only spoke really Portuguese. Mckay also says he loved it what Miguel would talk to Luis on the phone, because it had been too long since he had heard the sing song version of the beautiful language. His words, trust me.

We had some amazing food while we were there too. :) I can't spell them in Portuguese, I'm not that good yet. But, they were amazing.

I just love the fact that we have a Portuguese community here in Logan. It's the first year that the Portuguese club has been around, so we are expecting some wonderful activities next semester!

Anyone have any ideas on kinds of activities or food to bring up with the committee members?

:)
